Many ladies have a love for cowgirl boots these days, and especially those who appreciate a well designed boot for equestrian wear know about the comfort, quality and style that is offered with Ariat Women's Cowboy Boots.

Over the past couple of years, the Ariat company has created some gorgeous styles for women, and coming into 2010 there are some new ones as well. Here is a list of what appear to be the most popular women's Ariat cowboy boots this year:

Double H Boot

Heritage Roper Boot - This is a classic "Roper" style boot for women, and for ladies who love to ride, it could just be considered the perfect footwear! It comes up to just about the mid-calf level for most women and is soft, flexible and easy to wear. There are some nice colors available for this boot as well.

Fatbaby Women's Boot - This boot has now been around for a while, and has truly proven itself in terms of style and comfort. It is still one of the most popular boots for ladies from the Ariat lineup. This boot is what I would call "way cute" - it is a shorter style boot with a rounded sort of toe - and is available in either bright and colorful or more classic versions.

Showbaby Boot - Here is a fun style rather similar in appearance to the Fatbaby. It is a bit taller however, but also available in some truly "show off" colors. Fun style!

Women's Caballera Boot - I simply must mention this women's cowgirl boot - it is a gorgeous design with a more squared toe, wing tip style and is available in a couple of color combinations. The one that stands out the most to me is the Buckskin/Red combination.

Rodeobaby Women's Boot - Here is a boot with about a mid-calf height with some gorgeous rich styles. It also has an appearance that is along the lines of the other "Baby" boots from Ariat, and can be purchased in either a more rounded or squared toe look.

I would actually say that the 2010 Ariat Women's Cowboy Boots lineup is better than ever - and although these boots are best known (and possibly the most worn) by equestrian women, they have the comfort and style that just about any woman (who appreciates a western style) would love.

When the cowboy boot first arrived on the scene, there was only one way to get them. Each pair was the same style and shape. It is amazing to see how times have changed. There are now countless colors and styles of western boots, and when it comes to variety, Tony Lama boots are up there with the rest of them. It's true that everyone has an original and unique style, but even so, you will find a pair of Tony Lama western boots that will fit you perfectly in both style and shape. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind when you're looking for that perfect pair (at the perfect price) to make sure you get what you're looking for the very first time.

Boot sizes are not quite the same as sneaker sizes or formal shoe sizes. If you are new to Tony Lama western boots or have never owned a pair of western boots at all, you're going to need to resize your feet to make sure you get something that you'll be able to wear comfortable. Even if you plan to buy your boots online, go to the store and try on a few pairs of boots just to find your boot size. It may be surprising to find out just how tight those pointed toes are. You may just opt to get a pair of square-toed Tony Lama western boots instead. Those give more room in the toe box and look just as good as the traditional style.

Double H Boot

The height of the boot's shaft is something else to consider. Calves, like any part of the body, come in all shapes and sizes. Women with thicker calves might decide to get the smaller sizes of men's boots, but that's not completely necessary. Women's boots have more variety and style - and more variety in shape to accommodate the differing shapes of a woman's leg. There are styles where the shaft rises halfway to the knee, but there are others that are short enough to be ankle boots. A guideline to follow is to find something that fits the thickest part of your calf and judge all other fits by that. There are also pairs of boots with expandable gussets as well, which means they'll stretch to fit your leg. And naturally, the shorter pairs of boots are always a viable choice.

The sole of the boot is also something you'll want to think about. Tony Lama western boots are great for competitions, both amateur and professional, but some of these competitions have certain restrictions on what kind of boots you can wear. Check with the competition authorities to see what boots are allowed before purchasing a pair for that purpose. If you're only getting the boots for personal use, then the sky's the limit, in terms of style.

Price is another big consideration. Local stores and online stores are bound to have terrific deals. The latter will also include shipping and handling costs, so be aware of those and add them into the final price. A close look at the store's return policy is also a good idea.

It is nice to complement the cowboy's tough image with a cowgirls' still tough but sexy look. This can be done by wearing the same western outfit, especially the sexy boots offered by Double H boots. These boots will surely look great on women but they have to make sure that they are worn properly with the right clothes. You have to consider how tall or how short you are and how large or how slim you are when choosing the right clothes to wear with these boots.

With a touch of sexy chocolate, Women's Double H Boot Roper in Chocolate features a chocolate ruff-out leather vamp, perforated saddle and foxing, saddle tempest shaft with eight row stitching, leather-lined quarter, perforated Perma-fresh "footprint" insole, "Chocolate Ice" oil and slip resisting out-sole, and a stacked heel. These boots are surely exquisite. So what should you wear with them? It actually depends on the woman's size and stature. For the short ladies who want to accentuate their shortness, the cowgirl skirts that come just below knee level will highlight their shortness so it will be their choice if they want to do so. Such cowgirl skirts are actually very nice for tall ladies. For shorter ladies, it is very nice to have their leggings tucked into the boots, especially model-heeled boots, to make her appear taller. Shorts can also be worn with boots and the cut off denims will be perfect. For larger ladies, wearing jeans over the boots is ideal and for slim ladies, it is better to tuck the jeans in.

Go, grab those Double H boots- Women's Double H Boot Roper in Chocolate, Women's Double H Boot Black Harness, Women's Double H Boot Roper in Red, Women's Slouch Double H Boot, Women's Ultra Gel Ice Buckaroo Double H Boot, and Women's Double H Boot with Cross. In this article I review the Cavallo Hoof Simple Boot. I think it's important to write about my experiences because it took a lot of research to figure out how to fit this boot to my quarter horse gelding, Walker, who is currently in transition from shoes to barefoot living. If I had not done the research, I would have ended up with boots that were the wrong size, not to mention ultimately detrimental to Walker's progress toward a barefoot lifestyle.

Walker's Barefoot Trimming Situation

Double H Boot

Walker is a 4-year-old quarter horse gelding I purchased as a reining prospect. The moment I brought him home I immediately yanked his shoes off. His feet were typical of an overly-bred quarter horse: thin walls, hoof wall separation (giving his toes that lovely long "ski" look), and a thin sole. I figured this was no big deal, as I had had a lot of experience transitioning horses out of shoes. Plus, Walker had only worn shoes for about four months.

I was wrong. Walker, being a Shao Yin personality type (read more about this and other horse personality types on Dr. Madalyn Ward's Horse Harmony site), was a hot house flower. With every barefoot step he took he winced. He limped. He looked totally pathetic. Worst of all, he was totally unrideable. I live in rough country, where rocks, gravel, and rough terrain abound. Walker, in total contrast to my mustang mares, could not hack a single step.

I tried to tough out the situation for a couple of months. I tried several different barefoot strategies. I tried taking off less flare with each trimming and using a severe mustang roll. This only caused the hoof wall to separate more. I tried taking off all the flare. Walker, in contrast to his name, could not walk. I tried trimming every few days. No dice. Same with going a long time between trimmings. Ditto with all kinds of hoof paint, iodine, and other remedies. The nutritional aspect, with my home made "horse goo" of mangosteen juice and algae, was helping him grow much better hoof wall, but that was way up at the top of his hoof. In the meantime, he was trying to walk on the crummy lower portion of his hooves. Ouch!

Cavallo Simple Hoof Boots

I finally broke down and decided that my boy needed some artificial help; I either had to slap shoes back on him (makes me wince) or buy him some boots. Since the boots cost exactly double the cost of a shoe job (about 5), I opted for boots. In my experience they last longer and cost less in the long run.

In the past, I've often used Old Macs, especially on my bigger horses. I love the Old Macs and have taken them everywhere, but they are fairly large and clunky. Walker is small (not quite 15 hands) and has slender legs and tiny quarter horse hooves. Instead, I opted for the Cavallo Simple Hoof Boots, which have a much slimmer profile and looked easy to put on and take off.

I got online and researched a bunch of reviews, as well as visiting the Cavallo site for their sizing chart and instructions. According to those instructions, I measured Walker after a fresh trim. Using their sizing chart, Walker was a size 2. I was all ready to hit the "buy" button for a pair of size 2 boots when I decided to read through a few more user reviews. Here's what I learned based on the user reviews:

1. Order one size smaller boot than the sizing chart suggests

2. If your horse's hoof has a lot of flare, measure the hoof after a fresh trim in which you take off all the flare

3. These boots stretch with use so buying one size smaller makes sense

4. In order to ensure a better fit, buy a few of the pad inserts in case you need them

5. You want the fit to be snug (with Walker, I put the boot halfway on and then he has to put his full weight on the boot to get his hoof in). With a snug fit you prevent rotation and rubbing (the inserts also help with this)

6. When you first get the boot, wrap a plastic bag around your horse's hoof and around the boot to try the boots for fit. This prevents the boots from getting dirty and allows you to exchange the boots if necessary

7. Let your horse break the boots in slowly to prevent rubbing and sores (20 minutes the first day, an hour the next, and so forth)

Walker's Experience with the Cavallo Simple Hoof Boot

Walker loves his Simple Hoof Boots. The first day I put them on and rode him, he literally galloped down our gravel drive. This is the same gravel drive he literally could not limp across barefoot. He wore the boots for a short 20 minute ride the first day, then for a longer hour ride the next day. Over time, we've increased the amount of time he wears them.

One day I decided to let him wear the boots all day in his pasture. He was mostly sound in his pasture barefoot, but occasionally he would hit a rough spot and limp. Plus, I noticed that he rarely ran or bucked with Fezzywig, his pasture buddy. I also noticed that he had become quite swaybacked and had been working to remedy that with bodywork. The day he wore his boots all day in pasture, he ran and bucked like a maniac. He also didn't look as swaybacked. To understand what has happening to his body, I got down on my hands and knees and tried to imitate a sore-footed stance. In that stance, I noticed that I rocked back on my knees and dropped my back down to avoid putting weight on my hands. Hmmm, not exactly rocket science but pretty nifty nonetheless.

Walker now wears his boots all day and has them off at night. We live in a dry climate, the high desert of Colorado, so he can get away with wearing his boots for long stretches without any moisture buildup. This is important since the goal is to develop a hard, dry, tough hoof, and moisture buildup tends to soften the hoof (especially the sole). Depending on where your horse lives most of the time, you may wish to do keep boots on him for many hours at a time, or to just put them on when you are riding him.

Finally, in addition to his new Simple Hoof Boots, Walker loves his extra doses of Simplexity health Omega Sun Algae, which is unparalleled when it comes to building strong hoof wall. We are about four months away from him actually walking on his new hoof wall (you can see a line that separates the old hoof from the new growth), but I can tell that the algae is producing a much thicker and stronger wall. Can't wait for him to actually be able to walk on it!

I hope this article helps those of you who are considering buying the Cavallo Simple Hoof Boot. It's a high quality boot and well worth the investment for those who want to transition their horses to barefoot but need a little "help"!

"Honey, you need to come home, we have a major problem." What can be worse when you answer your phone? It just recently happened to me. My wife called me at work and said "Honey, you need to come home, we have a major problem." Of course your mind races and you automatically expect the worst. Are the kids ok? Are you ok? Did you get into an accident, is anyone hurt? Then I hear, "No dear, it's the house." Did it burn down, earthquake, electrical, what happened? "The house, it's flooded." Well, it could be worse, but for homeowners, plumbing issues are right up there with the last thing you have to deal with. In my case my wife proceeds to tell me that when she got home and opened the garage door a wall of water came out. I triaged the situation with her over the phone and found out the water leakage was coming from a broken hot water hose to the washing machine. I quickly told her to simply shut off the water line to the washer and the gusher of water stopped. Then I stayed on the phone with her as she walked around the house and throughout the interior. Of course, I expected the worst. On the other side of the wall where the water line burst is our den with beautiful oak hardwood floors throughout. As I stayed on the line she surveyed the situation, to our amazement, the problem was just in the garage.

Good fortune #1. I came home later that day and I was able to replace the hose, I replaced both the hot and cold just in case. In about an hour and later the problem was fixed. However now I had to deal with the damage in the garage.

Racor

Good fortune #2; I recently organized my garage with new interlocking tiles, a slatwall organization system on the walls to hang everything on, including all new resin cabinets. So there literally was no damage. I simply squeegee-ed the water out the front of the garage and that was it. The interlocking tiles I installed on the garage are designed to allow for airflow underneath the tiles and the remaining water quickly dried. Because I had slatwall installed on walls, no items were on the floor and thus no water damage to my personal items, tools, etc. Because my cabinets were built of a commercial grade plastic or resin, none of my cabinets had water damage, as would have been the case with wooden cabinets. Also, none of the items within the cabinets were ruined, because they were hanging on the wall off the floor. So what could have been a major multi-thousand dollar disaster, literally was fixed, cleaned and back to normal within a couple hours and . Amazing! The investment I had made to organize my garage just saved me thousands of dollars in time and money. Now that was a great investment.

Good fortune #3. About six months earlier our house featured on the HGTV show, "How Much is My House Worth". On this show the basically give you a market appraisal and tell what is good about you house and what is bad. Overall I was very pleased with the results. However one item my house was graded down on, was having the washer and dryer in the garage. The TV host said, "in this day and age, people don't want t have to go into the garage to do the laundry." "Most new houses have laundry room built into the house. And in models that are two story, they have the laundry room on the second floor to save time from going up and down the stairs." I never forgot that statement. Unfortunately, shy of a ,000+ major remodel of my house, the washer and dryer was going to stay where it was. I couldn't justify that type of investment on a resale. However, I look back now, after the infamous phone call from my wife and thought how lucky I was. If the washer and dryer would have been in the house, this would have been a major disaster. The hardwood floors and the carpet would have been ruined. The walls, the insulation, my furniture and possible mold issues, I could just hear the cash register ringing continuously. Not to mention the time it would have taken to fix it and the impact on our family having to be displaced while the repairs were taken care of. I actually thought about calling the TV show and the host to tell them of my experience and how my down graded washer and dryer in the garage saved me thousands. But I didn't. Instead I smiled and was thankful that everything turned out the way it did...this time.

The moral of the story, check your washer water hoses regularly and replace them sooner rather than later. Having your washer and dryer in the garage is not a bad thing, while it might not be the most convenient place fr your washer and dryer, it could save you thousands in the long run. And finally, organize your garage!

Even if you choose a AM station, the quality sound you get is so clear and so crisp. If you drive in zone where reception is weak, you'll get a huge improvement in signal strength. And when you are parking near skyscraper buildings, Pioneer Supertuner IIID subtracts the effect of multi-path noise, which happens when signal is reflecting off of the buildings. Double H cowboy boots have been popular since 1955. It's surprising to find that these incredible boots started out in a closed-down shoe factory. In Richland, PA, the H.H. Brown Shoe Company bought that unused factory and turned into a manufacturing facility for cowboy boots and work boots. It was known as the Richland Shoe Company. There was a huge competition in who was the best creator of cowboy boots, and soon enough, the harness boot was launched by a rival company. As a response to their challenge, the owner, H.H. Brown, created what is called the snoot boot. It was very much like the harness boot, but the cost was minimal because it was produced at the Richland facility. They started a production line, and Double H cowboy boots were born.

The Richland Shoe Company was actually the first shoe company to ever produce safety toe cowboy boots. They had steel toes, which provided ample protection. This is what we now know as the Class 75 ANSI boot. It was the first boot to ever make that standard or grade. Updated with a few tweaks from newer technology such as decorative stitching using computerized machines, these had an overhaul. They became more fashionable, and were known as the fashionable western style boots. In 1981, they started mass production. They expanded to Womelsdorf. This further catapulted the company into success, because of the higher storing capability, and production capacity. However, it wasn't until 1993 until they changed their name into something more appropriate: Double-H cowboy boots. The name was a click because it sounded more Wild West.

Double H Boot

Come 2001, even more boundaries were pushed. They launched the Ice collection; something more appropriate for the times. The collection can be used both for work and play. They had a variety of styles, including pull-on boots, and lace-up style boots. They were made with a resilient Ice bottoms, along with a patented Aero Glide 7 comfort system. This made wearing the boot convenient and very comfortable because of the line's success, they produced two more lines: the Oak Ice and Black Ice. They were made with fashion in mind, but comfort was never forgotten. The Pillow Cushion was still incorporated into the design. Double H cowboy boots is always expanding and growing. In 2002, they bought the Acme Boot Company. They turned it into a line which could cater to all ages, of all genders. After all, everyone wants a pair of Double H cowboy boots. Acme was still retained as the brand name. They launched the Sonora line in 2005. They opted for a more high-fashion look, with cowboy inspired themes. They have been making those boots season after season.

Double H cowboy boots are very affordable as they can be bought for as low as a hundred dollars. Because of their high quality, they can be used for decades. They are also very versatile, and can stand up to a variety of tasks while still looking good enough for a night out on the town.
